Century Marine Services Ltd, an international shipbroking company based in the UK, recently commissioned a model Tug to be built entirely out of Lego in order to raise money for the charity The Mission to Seafarers for their Angel Appeal. This very worthwhile charity provides help and support to seafarers who may be suffering from loneliness, danger or separation from loved ones.
The 50cm long model is based on a RAL 3200 Azimuthing Stern Drive Tug and was built by Bright Bricks in the UK and then shipped out to Abu Dhabi to be displayed on Century Marine's exhibition stand at the Middle East Workboats show.
The tug attracted a great deal of interest from those attending the exhibition and on the third and final day, Steve Dougal, Century Marine's Managing Director, was delighted to present it to Nigel Dawkins, the Director for The Mission to Seafarers in the UAE. The Mission's plans are to auction the model Tug at their annual ball in March and it is hoped that this will raise plenty of funds for them.
