New IMO Signage Rollout …Are You Affected?
Thursday, 17th January 2019
With 2019 underway so is the rollout of new IMO signage. Intended to bring the IMO designs inline with that of ISO, the rollout will affect new and old vessels alike.
Following the proceedings of the 30th assembly of the IMO of December 2017 resolution A.1116(30), will require from the 1st January 2019 the new ISO signage to be used by new vessels.
In addition to new ships, all vessels that undergo repairs, alterations, modifications and outfitting within the scope of SOLAS chapters II-2 and/or III, as applicable; will thereafter be expected to use the new ISO signage.
“We have added hundreds of new signs to our site in readiness of the 2019 switchover,” said Robert Tremlett, Head of Marine Sales at Maritime Progress. “During the transition period, which we expect to last around four years, Maritime Progress aims to stock both sign types. We’ve created extra subcategories at Martimeprogress.com, for the latest IMO signs, look for categories with 2019 in the title.”
