Wave MiniBOSS bilge water systems fitted on vessels ensure no pollutants discharged overboard

Wednesday, 5th August 2020

The Wave MiniBOSS by Wave International Ltd is a bulkhead mounted system which ensures that vessels do not discharge any oil or other pollutants, such as microplastics, overboard.

Approved by the IMO, Bureau Veritas and US Coast Guard, the MiniBOSS is MEPC 107 (49) certified for use on vessels from 400 Gross Tons.

Its compact, lightweight size and easy to install and quick to access design means that the MiniBOSS is now often installed on smaller vessels such as workboats, navy and commercial vessels, fishing boats and leisure craft.

The Wave MiniBOSS is available worldwide through a network of international distributors.  Paul Gullett, managing director of Wave International says, “We’re seeing increasing environmental awareness from boat owners and users, so many are choosing to fit an oily water separator such as the WMBOSS even when not required to do so by legislation.  Our water filtration systems are being installed all over the world including on vessels such as North Sea windfarm personnel and service catamarans, workboats in Norway, cruise ships in the Pacific Ocean and superyachts in the Mediterranean.”

The Wave MiniBOSS comes in three models; 24v DC with a maximum flow rate of 0.25 M³/hr; and a 110v and a 240v AC with flow rates of 0.35 M³/hr.

The filter technology within the Wave MiniBOSS removes all trace of pollutants which remain trapped within the filter cartridge.  The systems oil-water monitor indicates when the filters require replacing and logs a history of bilge operations.

Wave MiniBOSS was recently installed on the ultra-luxurious cruise ship Silver Origin, just completed by Shipyard De Hoop.  Silver Origin will become part of the Silversea Cruises fleet providing exclusive 100 guest cruises in the Galapagos area.

The waters around the Galapagos are designated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as a Particularly Sensitive Sea Area (PSSA), and are stringently protected by MARPOL, the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution at Sea.  This means that no more than 5 ppm (parts per million) of oil in water discharge is allowed, when the limit is usually 15 ppm in all other areas.  The Wave MiniBOSS  filter system with alarmed control panel will always ensure that no pollutants are ever accidentally discharged overboard.

Sales, service, support and replacement Wavestream filters are available worldwide through Wave International’s network of distributors.
