Rotec completes overhaul of hydraulic accumulators for UK ports
Wednesday, 10th December 2025
Rotec Hydraulics has successfully completed the overhaul and recertification of essential hydraulic accumulators for a major UK port operator, ensuring the continued safety and efficiency of their critical cargo-handling machinery.
The project addressed a key challenge in the marine environment: persistent saltwater corrosion. The 10-litre and 20-litre, 135-bar accumulators frequently operate submerged, requiring more than standard maintenance.
Rotec’s solution involved a highly specialized process, leveraging their status as the only certified Parker Hannifin Accumulator Recertification Centre in the South of the UK:
– Full Component Restoration: All internal bladders and seals were replaced.
– Corrosion Mitigation: The shells were aggressively shotblasted to remove all rust and old paint.
– Marine Protection: A durable, high-performance marine-grade paint system was applied to provide exceptional long-term resistance against saltwater.
– Safety Certification: The units were rigorously tested and recertified for pressure and leak integrity.
This proactive maintenance extends the life of these high-value assets, minimizing unscheduled downtime and securing continuous port operations.
