CRP Subsea secures Seaway7 offshore wind cable contract

CRP Subsea, part of AIS, has been awarded a significant contract by Seaway7 to supply cable protection systems for the ScottishPower Renewables East Anglia TWO offshore wind project in the North Sea.

The agreement will see CRP Subsea deliver 142 NjordGuard cable protection systems designed to safeguard inter-array cables at each end of wind turbine generators. The systems are engineered to prevent over-bending, abrasion and fatigue during installation and throughout long-term operation, supporting advanced underwater engineering requirements in challenging offshore environments.

Three tailored NjordGuard configurations will be developed to accommodate both monopile foundations and J-tube interface requirements, ensuring compatibility across varying offshore installation conditions.

Engineering, Manufacturing and Project Delivery

CRP Subsea will manufacture the systems at its dedicated facility in the North West of England. The site features a semi-automated production line designed to significantly increase output capacity and support large-scale offshore energy and underwater engineering projects.

Engineering work will begin immediately, with final delivery scheduled for February 2027.

Offshore Wind Project Overview

East Anglia TWO forms part of the wider East Anglia Hub, which also includes East Anglia ONE North and East Anglia THREE. The development is located in the North Sea, approximately 46 km off the coast of Lowestoft and 113 km from the Netherlands.

The project will cover an area of 218 km² and is expected to feature up to 64 wind turbine generators, with a planned installed capacity of up to 960 MW.

NjordGuard Cable Protection Technology

NjordGuard is an integrated cable protection system designed for offshore wind power applications, including turbine generators and offshore substations.

Manufactured using API-qualified materials, the system delivers high resistance to abrasion and bending stress. It is designed for straightforward installation onboard vessels and is compatible with both monopile and J-tube interfaces.

Its use of API 17L-certified Uraduct® material enhances seabed wear resistance, helping to reduce the need for additional rock protection and supporting reliable underwater engineering performance over the asset lifecycle.

Hydrex Delivers Complex Underwater Propeller Repair in Nigeria

Hydrex has successfully completed a complex underwater propeller repair on a hopper dredger in Lagos, Nigeria, reinforcing its global capability in specialist marine maintenance.

The vessel required urgent intervention after oil leakage was detected from one blade of its controllable pitch propeller. To avoid disruption to operations, Hydrex was mobilised to perform the propeller repair underwater while the vessel remained in port, eliminating the need for drydocking.

A specialist diving and engineering team was deployed to Lagos to carry out the work under challenging underwater conditions. A detailed inspection confirmed that blade number three was the source of the leakage, enabling the repair plan to be finalised quickly on site.

Complex propeller repair completed without drydocking

The underwater propeller repair involved removing the affected blade and inspecting all sealing surfaces. No structural damage was identified during the inspection. New seals and a sealing plate were installed, with all components carefully lubricated and positioned in accordance with manufacturer and class standards.

Following completion of the repair work, the blade was repositioned using an approved lifting procedure. All blade bolts were cleaned, reinstalled and tightened to specified torque settings. Final leakage and pitch tests were successfully completed, confirming the effectiveness of the propeller repair.

By completing the underwater propeller repair in situ, Hydrex enabled the vessel to continue operating without interruption, avoiding the cost and downtime associated with drydocking.

The project was carried out during the end-of-year period, requiring flexibility from all parties involved. Despite logistical challenges, the repair was completed efficiently through close coordination between the onboard crew and Hydrex teams.

LGH Expands Heavy Lift Capability with Winches and 1,500T Beam

LGH, the largest organisation dedicated exclusively to the rental of lifting and moving equipment, has expanded its super heavy lift capabilities with the introduction of a new 1,500-tonne modular spreader beam, further enhancing its global high-tonnage offering alongside its range of marine winches and heavy-duty winches.

This strategic investment responds to growing demand from infrastructure, offshore, and heavy industrial sectors, where increasingly complex lifting operations require high-capacity, adaptable solutions. The new spreader beam is DNV-rated, confirming compliance with offshore and marine lifting standards, making it ideal for heavy-lift vessels, pipe-lay ships, offshore wind installations, and projects that rely on marine winches and precision load control.

Nicknamed ‘MEGAMOD’ due to its immense strength, the beam has been engineered by Modulift and is now fully integrated into LGH’s global rental fleet. It delivers a 1,500-tonne working load limit at a 20-metre span and is designed to provide maximum flexibility across a wide range of lifting applications.

Unlike fixed systems, MEGAMOD’s modular design enables faster mobilisation, simplified transportation, and adaptable configurations tailored to specific project requirements. It complements LGH’s extensive inventory of lifting equipment, which includes spreader beams from six tonnes up to 1,500 tonnes, as well as rigging gear such as shackles, slings, load cells, load links, winches, marine winches, and sheave blocks.

The beam also incorporates trunnion ends, providing a shackle-free rigging solution ideally suited to heavy loads. This feature enables load rotation, reduces rigging weight, improves safety, and accelerates mobilisation while delivering measurable time and cost efficiencies. Fully interchangeable trunnion ends ensure seamless integration across LGH’s broader fleet.

Following delivery, the 1,500-tonne beam will be deployed from LGH’s Antwerp facility to a heavy-tonnage load testing project. Future applications include offshore installation, bridge construction, marine crane testing, and complex industrial lifts where coordinated use of lifting systems and winches is essential.

Now available for rental, the MEGAMOD beam gives customers access to high-capacity, adaptable lifting equipment designed to meet the evolving demands of the super heavy lift sector, enabling safer, more efficient, and more effective project execution.

Leading marina infrastructure specialist Inland and Coastal has announced its sponsorship of the upcoming The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) Code of Practice Roadshow, a nationwide programme designed to introduce the marina industry to the anticipated revised edition of the TYHA Code of Practice.

The 2026 roadshow will feature 11 events across the UK and Ireland, offering marina operators, marine businesses and industry stakeholders the opportunity to explore the latest guidance in marina planning, design and operations. The programme is sponsored by Inland and Coastal alongside Haven Knox-Johnston, MHPS and Dura Composites, with Dura Composites also hosting one of the events at its Banagher headquarters in Ireland.

A benchmark for marina best practice

TYHA, part of British Marine, is the UK’s leading marina trade association, representing marina operators, boatyards and marine businesses both nationally and internationally. Its Code of Practice is widely recognised as the industry benchmark for best practice, providing guidance that supports safe, sustainable and commercially successful marina operations.

Developed in partnership with Marina Projects, the 8th edition of the TYHA Code of Practice reflects extensive consultation with TYHA members and incorporates principles drawn from established international standards and regulatory frameworks.

The updated Code of Practice has been structured into four dedicated volumes covering:

  • Planning & Design

  • Marina Operations

  • Boatyard

  • Superyacht

This expanded format ensures the guidance remains relevant to marinas of all sizes and types, addressing evolving operational standards, environmental responsibilities and customer expectations across the sector.

Industry roadshow across the UK and Ireland

Primarily aimed at TYHA members and businesses interested in joining the association, the roadshow will provide first-hand insight into the revised code, including how it can be applied in day-to-day marina management and development projects.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to engage with industry experts, discuss current challenges and explore opportunities shaping the future of the marina sector.

The TYHA Code of Practice Roadshow will visit the following locations:

  • York Marina — Tuesday 11 March, 1pm–4pm

  • Suffolk Yacht Harbour — Thursday 12 March, 1pm–4pm

  • Aqueduct Marina — Tuesday 17 March, 10am–1pm

  • Upton Marina — Thursday 19 March, 1pm–4pm

  • Inland & Coastal, Banagher, Ireland — Tuesday 24 March, 12pm–4.30pm

  • Mayflower Marina — Thursday 16 April, 10am–1pm

  • Buckler’s Hard Marina — Wednesday 22 April, 1pm–4pm

  • Caley Marina — Tuesday 28 April, 10am–4pm (includes complimentary Dolphin Boat Tour)

  • Portavadie Marina — Thursday 7 May, 1pm–4pm

  • Dunchurch Pools Marina — Wednesday 13 May, 10am–1pm

  • Haven Knox-Johnston Office, St Katharine Docks — Wednesday 20 May, 10am–1pm

Banagher event hosted by Inland and Coastal

Inland and Coastal will host the Irish leg of the roadshow at its Banagher headquarters on Tuesday 24 March. The event will begin with a luncheon at 12pm, followed by presentations and discussions starting at 1pm.

Delivered in collaboration with TYHA and Marina Projects, the session will focus on the latest revisions to the Code of Practice and provide an opportunity for marina operators and marine professionals to connect, share experiences and exchange best practice across the sector.
